This is Councilman Roy Jech’s second stint on Parma City Council. A resident of Ward 9 for 40 years, he served the ward from 1996 to 2014. He was appointed January 2019 to complete the term of Ward 9 Councilman Jeffrey Crossman, who began his term at a state house representative in January 2019.
Jech is a retired Local #120 pipefitter, Valley Forge High School graduate, U.S. Army veteran and member of St. Columbkille, where he has coached baseball, softball and basketball, and served on the parish’s athletic board. He has also coached baseball and softball for the Parma Recreation Department and was involved with the YMCA’s Adventure Guides and Princesses.
He worked on the West Creek Conservancy development and has served on the board of directors for the Keating Center. He was instrumental in the renaming of State Road Park to Veterans Memorial Park and was involved in the organizing, fundraising and volunteer coordination of the Veterans Memorial, of which he serves as chair.
He and his wife, Maureen, have been married for 40 years. They have three children.
